OK so hands up who saw the disgraceful screening about Teflon Pete on ACA last night? To say that Paleo is an evil fad (and then later saying that taking processed foods and sugar and additives out of your diet is always going to be beneficial)…whilst Pete Evans is out of the country and can’t even defend himself no less…

Here is an example of nutritional advice offered by someone “Properly Qualified”:

“As a personal trainer I have an overweight client who was told by a qualified nutritionist that she should not be having her preferred snack of raw nuts and some sliced apple BUT she could have a mini magnum or two scoops of low fat ice cream…”

So…Paleo an evil fad but plenty of qualified experts who will lead you in the right direction!

Another diabetic patient recently in hospital was offered a meal of sandwiches, with a side of breadroll. Now, for those who are just joining us, diabetes is basically a condition where your body CAN’T PROCESS CARBS!!!

So, Pete isn’t qualified, what a shame. I have a B.Sc. – does that count? I’m not saying it’s worth anything, but all this crap about qualifications is starting to get up my nose.

The research is showing that sugar is a TOXIN, but you can’t write a book about it if you’re only a qualified Lawyer. (Highly recommend David Gillespie’s books, cause he does know how to research FACTS and that is what’s important here IMHO.)

BUT if you are a qualified Dietician** you can still recommend low fat everything. Let’s take weight-watchers yoghurt for example. Uses FRUCTOSE as the added sugar. You know they used to do this in the USA too – use Fructose for diabetic patients – until they all started DYING from Heart Attacks…

So why can’t we admit we were wrong? Why is Pete copping all this abuse and ridicule? I guess I’m going to sound cynical, but I can only assume someone, somewhere is losing money.

But you know what, that’s ok. “They” are going to start making money other ways. See all this advertising of the free gov-funded health checks you can do? Oh what an act of service to your nation, all the humble Drs doing FREE health checks. Oh Puh-leeease! Firstly, it’s not free, it’s paid for by medicare, our taxes. Second, it’s a bloody good way to catch people in the EARLY stage of disease and recommend preventative measures – sure, except most Drs don’t do that, they prescribe medicines. They are REQUIRED to complete a certain number of scripts.

I could go on all day about how upset I am to see the rubbish going on – and the problem is we are so…submerged in it all day every day that it becomes really hard to see. A bit like a fish seeing water I imagine…(random analogy).

We all really need to take a step back. We really need to care who we are voting for. We really need to care what is happening to our country of freedoms and opportunities. We need to know all the money moving behind the scenes funding the hysteria about non-vaccinators when there is no such hysteria around overprescription of medicines, which kills TENS OF THOUSANDS more people every year (great article about this here: https://www.lewrockwell.com/2015/04/bretigne-shaffer/first-they-came-for-the-anti-vaxxers/ ). Seriously, I think it’s time to take back control of our choices, our health and our lives.  (Hey, this could be my acceptance speech when I’m elected! LOL)

I hope you share my passion and frustration – I’m not paranoid, I’m not crazy. I’m just tired of people assuming they are powerless or that it doesn’t matter. I have kids, for them and their kids, it matters. For yours it does too.

Postscript for my veggie friends: I am not saying Paleo is the only healthy diet, I am just tired of it being pushed as something totally “out there” when it merely advocates for a healthy, wholefood approach. If you find your health and happiness being vegan or vegetarian then more power to you. We are all standing on the same side of the fence so far as I can see. Real food, chemical-free, natural, unprocessed food is a healthier choice, logic suggests. So call it what you want, I’m just standing up for Pete for standing up for what he believes in and having to wear the shite mainstream media likes to throw his way.

** and yes, not all Dieticians are fire-breathing dragons, but many are still pushing outdated health advice, which is more than disappointing as it’s affecting the health and well-being of real people – you, their clients. But I have just heard from someone studying nutrition that the tide is turning – Nutritionists are now being taught low grain; don’t fear fat and similar paleo-esque lines of thinking. So hurray, some good news today 🙂
