Firstly, I’m not sure how weak your stomach is, but I am going to share some (not too confronting) pictures of a Staph infection.

Before I do that, I want to tell you about my visit to the Dr. When I presented with this inflammed red mess on my neck he went through these steps:

  1. Observed.
  2. Offered me an antibiotic/antifungal/steroid cream.
  3. Admitted that the steroid cream might make it worse if it’s an infection.
  4. Took a swab.
  5. Offered me antibiotics so the steroid cream wasn’t used.
  6. After some prompting, admitted he thought it was an allergic reaction.
  7. Told me steroid cream could make it worse, but gave me a sample to use anyway, with the antibiotics.

Now is it just me or does that seem a little circuitous and not particularly confidence-boosting?

OK, so here’s what I did:

  1. Went home and read all the side effects and considered the fact antibiotics would screw up my son’s gut health (still breastfeeding).
  2. Ignored all advice.
  3. Applied a poultice of garlic and essential oils to my feet at bedtime (1 night).
  4. Woke up the next day with this result:

Staph infection on neck before treatment.

Before poultice

Almost completely healed neck after 48hrs with essential oils and garlic poultice

After 1 night with a garlic and essential oil poultice on my feet.

PRETTY. FREAKIN. AMAZING.

Now I’m not going to tell you to ignore all medical advice – that’s just what I generally do for myself personally, be it on my head. What I am going to tell you is this:

Nature has amazing, PROVEN healing properties – this is where drug companies find their inspiration. It is only because the natural version can’t be patented that they go to such lengths to develop synthetic drugs. How we came to believe the synthetic version is better is beyond me – an exceptional marketing department perhaps.

I didn’t have the heart to break it to the Dr 4 days later when he finally called to tell me it was a Staph infection and I should continue with the antibiotics but stop steroids immediately. Umm..ok.

The key to remaining healthy is incredibly simple and yet so few of us choose to commit to it. We need to look after ourselves. Is it really that hard? Sometimes it seems that way, I know, I have kids too. But really? If we’re being honest with ourselves and given the consequences of NOT doing it…

  • eat good, nourishing food;
  • drink clean, filtered water;
  • excerise;
  • sunshine;
  • reduce stress.

Hard?

The body has a default position of trying to stay healthy – it works really hard to heal and be healthful.  If we support it with the right tools it can product amazing results, without intervention. I use essential oils as they further support the body in this process of healing and staying healthful. I can barely remember life before oils – they are a part of a wellness revolution that is just about to tsunami all over your butt. So brace yourself – they’re coming and THEY. ARE. AMAZING.

PS If you want to know more about the oils get in touch – I would love to help you discover this amazing new world…
