Using natural health in my family is just habit now – it’s not until I stop and think I realise how insidious it has become. Essential Oils are everywhere, of course…but there is a good dose of other natural remedies also.

This week my daughter managed to twist her knee badly on the trampoline and be crying with the pain of a urinary tract infection in the space of 24hrs.

Now I know the knee was bad because whilst at first I put oils on, it wasn’t until she had complained for another 24hrs I realised it was more than just a little bruise – she had obviously torn or pulled something pretty badly.

So I put her in the bath with a big dose of Magnesium salts and Dead Sea salts and a few drops of Lavender oil. This was just to help relax her muscles and get her ready for the healing night’s sleep she really needed.

I then applied oils (all diluted):

  • A soothing muscle blend
  • Then some Frankincense as a magnifier and amplifier of other oils
  • Plus some Helichrysum – master healer for trauma, pain, bruises and often called liquid stitches (my intention being it would help ‘stitch’ internally).
  • Then just to make sure, and because my husband swears it’s the best thing EVER for pain or muscle issues – I applied the soothing blend in a pre-made rub. The cream base helps keep the oils bound to the skin – they penetrate slower and have a more long-lasting effect.

She went to bed with a diffuser of Juniper Berry, Vetiver and Lavender for deep healing sleep (and boy does that combo knock my otherwise-shocking-sleepers out!)

She awoke in pain – screaming as she was still half asleep. She had pain…down there.

This happens quite a bit, she is just not good at remembering to drink enough water and something we have to still reminder her to do a LOT. I always have some cranberry concentrate on hand – not the juice – I mean tablets. You really don’t want to add sugar to this situation but any form of cranberry is probably better than nothing. (Cranberry helps coat the inside of the urinary tract so bacteria can’t take hold.)

I get her nibbling cranberry tablets in between big drinks of water and more oils:

  • a cleansing blend
  • plus cedarwood
  • plus lemongrass
  • plus oregano (again, diluted – be wary as oregano oil is hot!)

Ironically as she is crying in pain she says “My leg isn’t hurting any more and this is instead!”

So the leg was quick.

With more water and an ACV “tea” to encourage a trip to the loo asap to flush everything out, she was asleep pretty soon and didn’t stir the rest of the night.

Now I’m not crazy, UTIs can be serious. But have you ever heard of them resolving in a matter of minutes? She went to sleep and …slept.

Next day it was all forgotten – I’m remind her to be careful of her knee and drink plenty of water, but honestly, it’s all ancient history when you’re 5.

My message to you is that these are a real solution to your family health needs – they work, they are safe, they are natural. Ticks all my boxes and the results speak for themselves.
